  13.   This will tell you how to make a
  14. portable silver box out of:
  15.  
  16.        A Radio Shack touch tone pad
  17.        Some wire
  18.        A Soldering iron
  19.        And a SPDT switch
  20.  
  21. NOTE: You should have an I.Q. above
  22. room tempature before attempting this.
  23. Also, read all of this article before
  24. starting.
  25.  
  26. WARNING: This may be hazardous to your
  27. freedom.
  28.  
  29. 1} Take off the plastic cover that
  30. stores the batteries and remove the
  31. screw that is in the center of the
  32. batteries. Now use a screw driver to
  33. pry open the box.
  34.  
  35. 2} Now you should have the two halves
  36. in your hands. On the side that has the
  37. circuit board, it should be held by two
  38. clips. Remove the circuit board now.
  39.  
  40. 3} You should now be able to see the
  41. back side of the keypad. Connecting the
  42. the key pad and the circuit board is a
  43. ribben cable. With the ribben ends
  44. connected to the keypad away from you,
  45. count from the left over four wires.
  46. On the fourth wire, take and cut the
  47. plastic on either side on the wire.
  48. Then desolder it.
  49.  
  50. 4} Now stare at the circuit board. Look
  51. at the connections of the chip.
  52. (SEE FIG.) There should be four pins
  53. not connected to anything. On the
  54. ninth pin (first row, first pin) solder
  55. a 3 inch wire to it. The other end goes
  56. to the left side of the spdt switch.
  57.  
  58. 5} Go back to the cable. Solder a 2
  59. inch to the ribben cable you just took
  60. out. This is because it won't reach the
  61. switch. The other end goes to right
  62. side of the switch.
  63.  
  64. 6} Now take a two inch wire and solder
  65. it to the hole that the cable came out
  66. of. Becareful not to get solder on the
  67. other wires. Now take the other end and
  68. solder it to the middle of the switch.
  69.  
  70. 7} Make a hole in the top of the case
  71. to put the switch through. And put it
  72. back together.

  85. Switch the switch left according to the
  86. way you soldered it to make silver box
  87. tones on the 3,6,9, and # keys.
  88. Switch it to the right for a normal key
  89. pad.
  90. Switching it to the middle does
  91. NOTHING!!!!

  94. your pocket for phreaking at your
  95. nearest pay phone or where ever.
